Where I’m From Poem

I’m from the place where the air

smells clean like the world after

a crisp long rain has washed

the dirt and muck from the air

I am from green fields

a lawn full of shamrocks

I am from the Dogwood trees,

the fresh smell of linen sheets,

the new smell of squeaky shoes,

and the softness of a pillow.

I’m from the culture known as Hmong

the proud and free people

I’m from the deep blue nights

of bright, warm summer days

I’m from the hard work of my

parents, rough hands and long days

I’m from the dreams that begin with

“Once upon a time”, fairytales

  1. This is fantastic! I love the way you have really played the senses.
